A wonderful house that’s so full of character and charm.

My family and I had a great time at this wonderful house. It is so full of character and in a beautiful setting. The coal fire in the sitting room and the stove in the kitchen made the house feel so homely and welcoming. We all loved the layout of the house and the kitchen in particular was where everyone gathered. The two young children loved running around in the gardens as it was a very secure place for them. I would most definitely recommend this house for any age group as it cater for all ages.

Beautiful place

The house is situated in a beautiful peaceful location, highly recommended!! The house was lovely and spacious, easily catered for our party of 10. Plenty of information was provided beforehand to help make the most of our stay. We couldn’t fault our trip, the children loved playing in the lake which is right next to the house and we enjoyed an evening meal at the view, where we also rented bikes to explore the area. The local shop (post office) only accepts cash, just to make people aware! The drive down to the cottage is single lane and we did notice some drivers getting quite close to us whilst driving down here but we also noticed a sign to say you can pull in to let people more familiar with the road past you - which I would recommend. The house itself is, as described, is traditional and so contained a lot of original features which added to the character. The kitchen was well equipped and the living room fit our whole family in whilst playing some board games. The beds were comfy and all rooms were clean and with lovely views of the lake in some. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Cozy home in a beautiful location

Couldn't recommend this house highly enough. It feels like a real home from home. The cozy fires, incredibly comfy beds (with electric blankets which were amazing), comfortable living room, beautiful kitchen and huge garden were particular highlights. The house was perfect for 10 people. The area is beyond stunning. The house literally sits on the side of the loch (check the tide times, when it's out there is a massive beach and when it's in there is literally none). There are gorgeous walks all around (greenbank's website has the routes) - we particularly enjoyed the river walk and the donich falls walk (although we didn't find the instructions super clear went the wrong way twice - we THINK the 'right' way after the farm houses is to go up the very steep winding track with posts along it, although we had great adventures going straight on at that point and also going up the stairs and going right). The pub is just steps away which is very sweet and reasonably priced. We sat outside taking in the view. Honestly the only tiny hiccups were the bowls (which we struggled to use for cereal or soup as they were so shallow) and the fact we couldn't get hot water in the evening (potentially our fault for not doing something right). Which were both very manageable hiccups that didn't effect the enjoyment of our stay. We'd definitely like to return!

Perfect house for a group, everything on your doorstep and dog-friendly

A group of 9 of us stayed at Greenbank in September 2022. The house is well equipped and suited our mixed group very well. For the older folk, the house is in a lovely location with views over the sea loch, the front garden is a lovely place to sit on a sunny evening. For the more active members of the party we had a great time with good mountain biking from the door, hills within easy reach and a choice of pleasant walks to be had without getting into a car. On the subject of traffic, the house is on a dead-end road so there is minimal traffic. Asda and Morrisons deliver to the house so once you are here you can park up and have a lovely stress-free holiday.

Happy overall

If you read all the reviews then you'll be aware that during the winter months then Greenbank will be cold. It is cold but once warmed up and with the heaters supplied it is quite a comfy holiday home. Only a few issues which are easily sorted. The rugs could do with a good thorough clean, my children wore white socks and within no time they were filthy. They don't look dirty just need a deep clean, probably caused by the use of coal. The kitchen facilities are not the best. Its only little things like Yorkshire pudding trays, toast holder etc. When you have a large party it makes life a little easier with these little things. The beds require updating. The double in the front double bedroom slants so you feel as though you will role out so is very uncomfortable. The single bed ( 1st on left as you go upstairs) needs replacing as slats being held together by duck tape. For what we paid we thought we would get a little better but overall we were satisfied and we made do as it was the mother inlaws last Xmas with us due to terminal cancer so we wanted it to be the best and she loves lochgoilhead. If these issues are sorted then it will be well worth the money. Overall a half decent well needed break. The owners were great. Several emails exchanged to make sure we were OK and if we had any issues, also received phone call the evening of our arrival to give advice. Please don't let my review put you off this home as these things can easily be sorted and I'm sure they will be. Many thanks. Ian & Family

Thanks for your detailed feedback. We love to hear from guests and that’s why we leave a feedback form on the sitting room table. So we know what needs attention. I couldn’t find any reviews mentioning Greenbank as cold. I think you may be remembering ‘the house is cold’ from our very long and detailed email, sent at enquiry time, before booking. In this email we lay out all the idiosyncrasies of Greenbank. We warn everyone who enquires that the house may be chilly on arrival in winter and they will need to light the fires to supplement the radiator heating. We say the heating in the house will never generate T-shirt conditions in winter. Our neighbours kindly came in, before your arrival, to light the kitchen stove. It's good to know that you made full use of the unlimited fuel provided and were able to make the house quite comfy. We are keen home cooks ourselves so we see kitchen equipment as very important. You will have found a wide range of trays: roasting trays of different sizes, quiche tins, pizza trays, a bread loaf and a cake tin plus cake stand. There are no bun/yorkshire pudding tins and we will rectify that. We hope you were able to improvise and perhaps cook your yorkshire pudding in the old fashioned way: in a roasting tin. As you say this issue is easily sorted and will be. Ditto a toast rack. Our usual worry about pricing is that we are too cheap compared to similar (sleeps 9/10) self catering properties nearby. Their prices range from £2500 - 5300 at peak times for 10 days although not all give the option of a 10 night stay. The cost of your stay for 10 days over the Christmas and New Year period was £2357. We feel we are competitively priced. We aim to provide affordable, great value stays for 10 people. We know we get some things spot on. We provide a dining room table that seats 10, the kitchen is huge with a small table and 4 chairs so it’s a social space as well as functional, a large utility room and front porch for outdoor gear (and a dryer in case it’s needed) and 4 bathrooms. We know we can’t get everything perfect all the time and feel a bit sad that you expected a little better for the price. Regretfully, as in many old cottages, the floors slope in rooms but we will look again at how we can make furniture more level. As you say we are always readily available on the end of the phone and by email. Thank you for the feedback and the photos on Google Maps. What gorgeous blue skies complimented the view from the doorstep. Regards Amanda

Lovely cottage in a magical place

We had a fabulous time at Greenbank in late September/ early October for my 30th birthday. The house is as beautiful as the setting and equipped with anything you'd need for a comfortable stay. Hot water may need to be rationed if fully booked but this didn't spoil my stay (whoever is bothered by lukewarm showers can always get in first!). We had lots of fun exploring the village and beautiful countryside, you can hike up to the top of the hill behind the house and be back at the house in under 2 hours! There was a little gin festival on as well when we stayed and we got to sample some delicious local gin whilst listening to some live music. Lots to do in the area as well, one of us booked a massage at the holiday Estate around the corner and we also rented a boat on the Loch and did some kayaking - all very fun! For trips further afield I'd highly recommend Inveraray with its beautiful castle, quaint highstreet and a delicious lunch at the George (30 mins drive). We also did a distillery tour and tasting at Glengoyne (1hr drive) which was fab and did another boat trip taking us around the rough seas by Jura with Jenny Wren boat charter out in Craobh Haven (1h10 drive) which we really enjoyed. One thing I would recommend staying away from is eating out at The Goil Inn - whilst perfectly fine for a drink their food was pretty horrific buy maybe we were just unlucky! Couldn't recommend staying at Greenbank any more, the owners have been sending super  emails from the start and communication was amazing. We will be back for the next big birthday! :)

Thank you Sarah for this very comprehensive review which will help future guests. Apologies for the hot water situation, there should have been oodles. Obviously something has gone wrong and we are looking into it. We understand that since reopening, post pandemic, the Goil Inn has had some chef issues. So any potential guest reading this, please check out their latest TripAdvisor reviews to see if the food has improved. We are really pleased you enjoyed the area and your stay at Greenbank! You don't have to wait until the next big birthday before coming back!

Great family holiday

We stayed for a family holiday with our sons and their family ( and dog) and could not ask for a better place to stay. The house was ideal with an enormous back garden in which the grandchildren could enjoy playing in (and us oldies relax in when they were out). The grandchildren also enjoyed exploring the beach and swimming in the Loch. We enjoyed Lochgoilhead and the surrounding area. Hired a boat to explore Loch Goil, went on a cruise of Loch Lomand , did the Gruffalo Trail at Ardkinglas and had a wonderful meal at Loch Fyne Oyster restaurant. Cannot wait to go back again.

Fabulous family break

Loved every minute of our time at this well equipped charming cottage. Loads of space and the position is superb, overlooking Loch Goil. Lots of local walks and a chance to book a Loch Cruiser and observe the local wildlife. We saw seals and a porpoise. The owners communication was excellent and with a week to go sent daily emails telling us what to expect and tips on walks and places of interest in the local area.

Spacious house in an amazing location

We had a fantastic 5 days at Greenbank to celebrate my husband's 50th. There are lots of things to do in the area, even when the weather isn't on your side: Endless scenic walks, Loch Goil cruisers, we visited Inveraray Jail and had a lovely meal at The View Restaurant. With the current pandemic and time of year, there were many other attractions which were unfortunately closed, but any other time and we could have easily filled 2 weeks with activities - both on and off the water. It was great to come back every day to a lovely warm and comfortable house, where we played board games, cards and watched films. We had a really relaxing stay and the scenery is just stunning. Thankyou for your hospitality, Amanda & Bern!

Great Family Break

Had the pleasure of a 4 night stay at Greenbank with my wife, 4 kids, and 2 dogs. Everything we needed was already contained within the house and the large garden was fully enclosed for the dogs which is always a necessity for us. The location is absolutely stunning, right on the bank of the loch. Plenty of activities to do around the loch and in the surrounding area too. Highly recommended.

Spectacular

Gutted to be home after spending 10 nights at this fabulous cottage. The owners are speedy with responses ans quick to help with any queries. The cottage has prime position with stunning views over the Loch and mountains in the backdrop. There are some amazing walks right on the door step from easy river walks to mountain climbs. We also spent some wonderful sunny days on the Argyll Secret Coast which has beaches to rival any across the world. The cottage has everything that you could possibly need away from home, including a fully stocked kitchen. There were only two of us and a large dog so it was a big cottage and a large enclosed garden. This is the perfect place to escape the madness of the world!!

Sunshine on the Goil

We are an extended family of ten with two dogs, and stayed at Greenbank mid August during some glorious weather. The house is fabulous for a party this size, plenty of space, excellent kitchen and cooking facilities, very clean and tidy and we had a perfect stay. Whilst we were there we played golf at The holiday complex, we had a drink and meal there too which was good, just a shame the Goil Inn wasn’t open as it is literally on the doorstep. We hired a boat to go out on the lock where we saw porpoises, seals and cormorants, no fish to be had though. We also had some kayak lessons through the local Scout Group. Plenty of walks to keep active and next time I will bring my bike. We had a fabulous meal at Loch Fyne on the way to Inveraray. Communication with The Frimans pre, during and post our stay was excellent, they even went to the trouble of returning an item we had forgotten to pack up when we left. The house is well located, has a beautiful well kept enclosed garden. All in all a wonderful stay enjoyed by dogs, children, parents and grandparents.

The owners were incredibly . The views will take your breath away and don’t forget your walkout boots as beautiful walks are just on your doorstep. Lovely spacious house in a stunning location

Stayed here in October half-term with my brother, his family and my Mum. 5 adults and 5 kids in total. Plenty of space for us all in this comfortable large house. Very clear instructions and communication from the owners before arrival and they were responsive and  when we had a couple of questions during our stay. The location is amazing - fantastic views down Loch Goil, surrounded by beautiful hills. The kids loved the big back garden and were often to be found pushing each other on the rope swing. The post-office shop and pub are a short walk away and there are lots of activities and a swimming pool at the Drimsynie Estate just 10 mins walk around the loch, where we enjoyed a family archery session, a play in the arcade and a hot chocolate, plus we got a take-away from there one evening. And of course there are loads of lovely walks to do - we tackled the "Steeple" just behind the house with the older kids and were rewarded with stunning views. Great place.

We arrived from Canada to meet our friends from the UK. We all loved the location and all this place had to offer. Our morning coffee, looking out the window toward the loch will stay with us all for a very long time. A bucket list trip, with Greenbank being our first stop. Would highly recomend this place to anyone looking for a place to meet family or friends.

Beautiful Cottage in a Stunning Location

We stayed at Greenbank Cottage in July for a week and had a wonderful holiday. The cottage is beautiful with stunning views of Loch Goilhead from most rooms. There is a large garden to the back of the cottage with a tree swing which my daughter loved. The cottage is well equipped, they have a selection of books and board games which the children enjoyed. Loch Goilhead is a truly gorgeous location, the cottage is located a few doors down from a gift shop which sells some lovely homemade gifts, there is also a Post Office / shop in the village and a pub which was very welcoming, we had a couple of meals there and enjoyed the food, it was reasonably priced and it was nice to have a walk over at night for a drink and sit outside looking over the Loch. Loch Goilhead is stunning, there are walks straight from the door which was great as we had two dogs. We went on a different walk every day and the scenery was breathtaking. It is such a relaxing location and we all left feeling “recharged”. We ventured out on a few occasions visiting Balloch and Luss on Loch Lomond, Carrick Castle, Inveraray, Loch Long and also hired a boat for 3 hours from Loch Goilhead boat shed. This was an amazing experience, the views from the boat were amazing plus we were lucky enough to see seals and dolphins. The owners of Greenbank were extremely  and communication was to a very high standard, they responded straight away to any queries I had prior to our stay and the booking process was straight forward without any issues. The majority of our party of 10 had never holidayed in Scotland before but we loved it so much that we have re booked Greenbank for May 2020. We can highly recommend Greenbank and Loch Goilhead, between our party, we have travelled all over the world and all agree that the scenery here rivals anything seen on our travels! If you want a relaxing holiday where you can enjoy family time and truly unwind then Greenbank is definitely the place for you!!

What a view

Gorgeous large 19th century home from home that has everything you could wish for including open fire, log burner and a roll top bath. The house is beautiful, with a large enclosed garden perfect for dogs, with walks straight from the door. Very remote so you won't be swamped by other people, but has everything within walking distance that you need. The views are stunning. Can reccommend the Boat Shed cafe for sandwiches and cakes (including gluten free options which were delicious) dogs welcome. And evening meal at The George at Inveraray, again dog friendly and great gf menu

Beautiful setting!!

We booked the cottage for a family get together weekend. The cottage has plenty of room, fantastic kitchen and separate dining area for all the family to enjoy a meal together. The views of the loch are spectacular, plenty of walks and outdoor activities in the surrounding area. Our grandchildren enjoyed the garden and the freedom of the small village. We had lovely weather during our stay, which was a bonus. The hosts provided clear instructions about the facilities and directions. We would definitely stay again.

A fantastic break in a great location

We had the pleasure of staying in greenban for 3 nights in August. Firstly Bern has been excellent at providing great communication throughout our stay and was very quick in his responses to any questions we had. The house is very spacious and a has a fine blend of victorian and modern outlooks. Though we did not need to use the fire stove this would seem like a great addition. The only thing I would say is ideally to reach the house by day time as the single track Road was a slight challenge when driving through for the first time. This is what makes the place different to living in the commercialised areas nearby. Nature and lake beauty at its best. Thanks Joe

“Greenbank, Lochgoilhead - a hidden gem!”

Hidden by mountains and lochs and just over one hour's drive from Glasgow airport lies the beautiful Victorian cottage, Greenbank, Lochgoilhead. Our family of 10 plus baby have just returned from an all-too-short week's holiday at this lovely cottage ideally situated overlooking the loch in Lochgoilhead. It is located close to the dramatic scenery of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs national park; a spacious Victorian house full of character and fully equipped to meet all requirements. With its 6 bedrooms and lovely lawned gardens to the front and rear, it more than catered for our party with ages ranging from 9 months to 72 years old. Our access to and from Greenbank was via a (relatively short) narrow road which, initially, was a bit hairy. However, after a few trips, we got used to it! There are numerous and varied walking routes close to Greenbank and we didn't have to go far at all (literally behind Greenbank) to discover some beautiful views over Lochgoil to the Drimsynie estate on the other side. This estate offers various indoor and outdoor activities together with a reasonably-priced quality restaurant. For more casual meals, the Goil Inn at the head of the loch provides a full menu as well as a good selection of whiskies. Before travelling to Greenbank we had looked at the video on YouTube showing the little deer running through the back garden. We were disappointed that we didn't see any deer during our time there, however, we did see a beautiful red squirrel foraging for food outside the living room window! We would wholeheartedly recommend this area and specifically Greenbank to anyone who wants to experience either a relaxing or an active holiday in a beautiful house surrounded by majestic views of mountains and lochs.

Everything you need

We stayed at Greenbank during the July summer holidays and it is a lovely house. We had 4 families split across the 6 bedrooms - and there was plenty space! A beautiful large dining room meant that we could all come together and share our stories during meal times. The children LOVED the rope swing in the back garden (it's the simple things!) The kitchen was large with everything you needed to cook or graze. Lots of space and stunning scenery from nearly every room. Beautiful beautiful place and is well looked after by the owners who were also so . There is also a holiday resort across the loch (about 10-15 minute walk) which you are able to use (small charge for some things) and this kept the kids (and adults) entertained in the evenings. Highly recommended. We ALL loved it!

Chicken soup for the soul

Greenbank was everything and more as described when booking. Tons of room for a large family or a couple of small ones. Very clean and a superbly equipped family kitchen with everything you need to prepare all your meals . Spacious lounge with great Wifi connection and loads of board games for all ages . The loch is practically on your doorstep and the views from the house are stunning, Also close by, is the Goil Inn which served delicious food for all , vegetarian and picky teenagers incuded. A well equipped cost cutters is located near by at the Drimsynie Holiday Park which has a large swimmimg pool and play areas for kids and not forgetting a 9 hole golf course . An amazing place to chill out and recharge.

Had an excellent stay at greenbank to see in the new year. Property is idyllic in its position over the Loch. There was plenty of space for us (8 adults 2 dogs and a baby) with two log fires. Would highly recommend staying here.

Xmas in Scotland

A beautiful house in a stunning place! We, a family of 8 (two couples and 4 young adults) decided to have a special Christmas in Scotland and after extensive search found Greenbank in Lochgoilhead, what a found! The house has charm, comfort, space, everything we dreamed for our special gathering. Split into two floors there are 5 bedrooms on the top, two with en-suit, one large double single beds and another two single rooms, all well decorated, recently furnished truly comfortable. The ground floor has two rooms facing the loch, one a lovely dinning room with a large dinning table the other, a cosy lounge with a fire place and with plenty of sofa seating, two 3 seater and a two seater allowing all of us to be together playing games and watching Xmas films. To the back there is another double room a large bathroom and the enormous kitchen. The kitchen has every appliance, saucepan, anything you need to cook and serve a large family. It lhas a very efficient stove that warms all the ground floor and links to the utility room equipped with washing and drying machines. The utility room links to the back garden a very large garden where we were lucky to spot a grouse and a red squirrel. The front garden faces Lochgoilhead, some mountains that where covered with snow during our stay, truly beautiful! We loved Grennbank and would like to come back, hopefully next year and longer than our 5 night stay!

Wonderful Christmas at Greenbank

We stayed here over Christmas 2016 and had a wonderful time. The house is in a great location with amazing views and lots of nice walks straight from the front door. The owners advised before booking that the house can get a bit chilly in the winter but we had the stove and open fire going 24/7 and this kept all the living areas comfortably warm, if not too hot at times! The kitchen and bathrooms are nice and well equipped, and were more than adequate to cook up a sizeable feast for 10 people on multiple occasions. Everyone had a great time.

Idyllic retreat in stunning setting

We stayed in Greenbank for five nights during our half-term break, with our adult children and their partners. The property itself was absolutely beautiful with a superbly well-equipped kitchen, complete with a lovely wood burning stove, and very nice modern, sumptuous bathrooms. It was spotless, well-furnished in keeping with the period of the house and in an utterly glorious setting. The views across the loch in the morning were awe-inspiring! We say grouse, red squirrels and a heron and used the house as a base for a variety of walks in the region. There was a lovely pub in the village where we ate - we recommend the haggis - and the welcome was very convivial. The little village shop was well-stocked and very handy, literally just metres away from the house. We had a fabulous time at Greenbank and would highly recommend it. The owners are extremely  and made the whole booking process easy and efficient, with very comprehensive information on how to use everything. Excellent!

Family wellie boot holiday

We all enjoyed our stay in this lovely house. Lots of room for our family of 10. We loved the big kitchen and our meals around the large dining table. We kept the fire going to top up the central heating and it worked well. We enjoyed walking around the forest walks and visiting Drimsynie and The Goil. All in all a great family holiday.

Mr

Just returned from our visit to Greenbank which was thoroughly enjoyed by all! We have visited Lochgoilhead every September for the past 6 years but this was our first stay in Greenbank. This is a very spacious house, our family of 7 had plenty of room and the bedroom downstairs was great for Grandad. On arrival we worried the house could be very cold so got the stove started which very quickly warmed the house, we actually spent most of our time in the kitchen as it is so cosy, we spent hours playing cards around the table. The bedrooms with en-suite are great and beds very comfortable. The large utility room was very handy for our wet dogs after a long walk and the garden is something else!! Location and character of the house is beautiful.

Lovely stay

Just returned from greenbank the house and location are marvellous would definitely return. A few tiny things that are purely selfish :- a couple of snuggle blankets/throws for the living room and a some Tupperware type containers for leftovers or picnics other than that it's the ideal place for a wonderful Scottish holiday and the Frimans who own this lovely house communicated everything brilliantly.😊

A perfect stay

We’ve really enjoyed our stay at Greenbank. The perfect location to relax with our group of friends (4 couples). The place is such a steal! Location Just one hour and 10 minutes from Glasgow airport, but the area looks like you’re in a completely different world. Beautiful surroundings and lots of things to do in the area. We’ve visited Inveraray castle (30 min drive) and had oysters at Loch Fyne on the way back (highly recommend both). Lochgoilhead has a nice pub and there are multiple whiskey distilleries within driving distance that are worth a visit, such a shame I was the one driving. We’ve had our groceries delivered by Asda, and the little shop/post office is right next door for the things you might have forgotten. The house This lovely home is even better than it looks in the photos! It is very well cleaned and offers more than enough space to stay inside on a rainy day. We could easily hang out in the living room with 8 adults while reading and playing board games. The dining room has a perfect large table to eat and chat and eat and chat some more for hours on end. Loads of space, character, lovely views and everything you could possibly need during your stay. Arrival Bern and Amanda sent us very clear instructions on how to get the key. There is an instruction video which covers all the possible questions you could have about the heating system or other appliances and a useful booklet in the house will do that again. Amenities Comfortable beds and more than enough bathrooms. The showers even work all at the same time (which is always a bit of a gamble with four bathrooms in one house). The kitchen is well equipped to cook for a group and the large dishwasher will come in handy after that. The instruction video explaining how the heating system etc. works made the whole stay very easy. As Bern told us before arrival it is an older property and it does take some time to warm up, but for us it only added to the whole experience that we had to make a fire in the stove in the kitchen.

Lovely house, great location, lots to do in the area and stunning scenery. We're just finishing a seven night stay here as an extended family of nine. The house fitted our requirements and contained everything we needed. There could be more wardrobe space in the bedrooms but that's a minor consideration and it's totally overshadowed by the positives. We hardly scratched the surface of things to do locally and would definitely come back.

Relaxation by the Loch

Booking from Tasmania proved difficult finding a property that would cater for a large group of people but luckily came across this awesome place. Spacious and beautifully situated with fantastic views. My brother in law, who lives in Glasgow couldn't believe somewhere so quiet and remote was only an hours drive away and vows to return. My daughter, aged 10 spent most time in the garden with a pair of squirrels and a grouse and swinging away on the tree swing. Lovely rustic house with comfortable bedrooms and living areas, perfect tonic to mine and my wife's hectic lifestyles. Only thing is , if you are a large party make sure you book the restaurant early to get in.

Beautiful Cottage

I have just returned today from a three night stay at Greenbank. It was a family reunion and it was fabulous. The cottage is situated right beside the loch with stunning views. The gardens are beautiful as is the whole area. Staying in Greenbank as made memories to last a lifetime and we will be definitely be returning. Just bear in mind it's an old cottage but with bags of features but exactly as you see in the pictures. We had the burner in the kitchen lit from the moment we arrived until we left which created a lovely heat, plus we burned the one in the living room at night too as well as the heating on. It was very cosy. It's extremely spacious and the kitchen and bathrooms are all beautiful and very clean. I would recommend a stay at Greenbank with no hesitation.

Thanks for your comments. We do appreciate hearing about the negatives as well as the positives. We are the first to admit that we don't get it right every time particularly towards the end of a busy summer. Once alerted to any problems, we always try to solve them as soon as possible. Guests can play their part too, by letting us know of any problems as soon as they are apparent either on the phone or by using the feedback forms left in the house. We were shocked to hear about the damp ceiling which seems to have been caused by a flooded bathroom upstairs. We have no idea when it happened but your comments have alerted us to it, so we are most grateful for that.

A great house and stunning location for a family get-together!

This was an ideal home from home. It was clean, comfortable and spacious for our family of 10. My little boys didn't want to leave the 'blue' house! Right on the door step of the Loch, which was ideal for some paddling fun. And the views - awesome! The house had everything we needed (except tea towels - minor) and the bathrooms were clean and modern, with great showers! We would definitely love to return!

Lovely family get together at Greenbank Lochgoilhead

thoroughly enjoyed a whole family weekend here. Spotlessly clean with everything you need to cater for 10 and warm and cosy with an open fire in the lounge and stove in the kitchen, it even has electric blankets on every bed to ensure a great nights sleep! Large garden with a rope swing, lovely walks and two pubs/ restaurants and a post office all minutes from the front door if you can drag yourself away from the loch at the bottom of the garden! Weather miserable but plenty board games and comfy couches so bring a book - tv is very tiny At 19" which meant my mother in law had to sit right beside it to watch Andy Murray win his tennis match (she's a big fan!) so I suppose if it was bigger it would suit everyone but our four teenagers watch tablets and it was nice to chat and play cards for a change. Hope to return and would recommend to anyone.

Beautiful house in beautiful location

Set right on the gloomily beautiful Loch Goil, this house is a superb place for a group celebration (I went with friends and family for my birthday). The rooms are all well laid out and very clean and Bern was very  when we had questions. The crowning jewel of this property is the garden, which is huge and includes a rope swing for big and small children alike. The area is equally stunning, I would recommend hiring boats across the Loch to get a glimpse of the resident seals and porpoise and taking a dip in the salty sea loch. Would definitely return.

A lovely house in a lovely spot

We stayed for a week at Greenbank, in the middle of a (by Scottish standards) heatwave. The house worked perfectly for us - we enjoyed the loch-side location, the convenience of the post office/shop a minute's stroll away and a nice restaurant (the Shoreside Inn) almost as close, and the combination of Greenbank's Victorian charm and modern kitchen and bathrooms. We went to the Inveraray Highland Games, and had a day out on the loch in a 10-man Canadian canoe, with Ian from Argyll Voyageur Canoes - strongly recommended also.

A group of friends and I had a totally magic stay at Greenbank. The house was perfectly positioned just steps away from the loch and had breathtaking views from the front garden and loch facing rooms. The house has been nicely renovated and was very comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed the lovely walks around the lake, and were lucky to see some friendly porpoises on our fishing trip. What a find. A fantastic house set in stunning scenery made for a truly relaxing stay

The house is set in a lovely little village at the end of a tidal sea loch and looks out on a real picture postcard of a view. For the hillwalker, the location is ideal and presents a variety of walks from short and easy to the more adventurous. We had breakfast watching seals at play - an unexpected bonus. Although it's an old property, it looks like it's been fully modernised and is equipped with everything you think you'll need. Thoroughly recommended.
